Information we collect

College GPA Calculator is built to work without an account, so we collect very little. What we do encounter falls into two buckets:

• Information you type into the calculator — course names, credit hours, letter grades, and grading-scale preferences. This is processed locally in your browser to compute your semester, cumulative, major, or science GPA.
• Information collected automatically — standard technical data such as browser type, device type, approximate region (city/country level, derived from IP address), pages visited, and referring site. This comes from our analytics and hosting providers, not from anything you enter into the calculator itself.

We do not ask for your name, email address, school, or student ID to use the calculator, and none of those fields exist in the tool.

How we use information

The limited data described above is used only to:

• Run the GPA calculation you request, in your own browser session;
• Understand which pages and features (like the how-to-calculate-GPA guide) are actually useful, so we can improve them;
• Keep the site secure, reasonably fast, and free of abuse; and
• Show relevant advertising that keeps the calculator free, if you have not opted out of ad personalization.

We do not use your grade or course inputs for any of the above — see Section 3.

Local, browser-based processing

This is the core privacy commitment behind the site. When you enter courses, grades, and credit hours, the GPA formula runs entirely client-side, inside your browser.

If a future feature ever asks you to save or export your GPA history (for example, downloading a PDF summary), that action will always be optional and clearly labeled before it happens.

Cookies & similar technologies

Cookies are small text files a site can place on your device. We use a limited set of them:

• Essential cookies — help pages load correctly and remember basic display preferences (like your last-used grading scale).
• Analytics cookies — help us see aggregate usage patterns, such as which calculator features are used most.
• Advertising cookies — set by third-party ad networks to show relevant ads and measure performance; these do not have access to anything you type into the calculator.

You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Doing so may affect display preferences but will not stop the GPA calculator itself from working, since the core calculation does not depend on cookies.

Third-party services

Like most free websites, we rely on a small number of third-party services to operate:

• Web analytics providers, to understand aggregate traffic and usage trends;
• Advertising networks, to serve ads that fund free access to the calculator; and
• Hosting and content-delivery providers, to serve the site reliably and securely.

These providers may independently collect standard technical data (such as IP address and browser type) under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any ad or analytics network you’d like to learn more about, and to use your browser or device settings to opt out of personalized advertising if you prefer.

How we share information

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. The limited technical and analytics data described in Section 1 may be shared only with:

• Service providers who help us run the site (hosting, analytics, advertising), bound to use the data only to provide their service;
• Authorities, if required to comply with a legal obligation, court order, or valid governmental request; or
• A successor organization, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — with notice provided on this page if that ever affects how your data is handled.

Data retention

Course, grade, and credit-hour entries are never stored on our servers, so there is nothing to retain or delete on our end — retention is effectively limited to your own browser session. Aggregate, anonymized analytics data may be retained for a reasonable period to support year-over-year trend analysis, but it is not tied back to an individual visitor’s identity.

Your choices & rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or limit the use of personal data collected about you, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal data for targeted advertising. Because we collect so little personal data by design, most of these rights are already satisfied simply by not using cookies or by clearing your browser data. To make a request or ask a question about your rights, contact us using the details in Section 12.

Children’s privacy

College GPA Calculator is used by high school students, and we take that seriously. The tool does not require an account, does not ask for a name, email, or student ID, and does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us in a way not covered by this policy, please contact us so we can address it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures — including HTTPS encryption in transit — to protect the limited data we do handle. Because your grade and course inputs are processed locally rather than transmitted to a server, they are not exposed to the kinds of server-side data breaches that affect account-based platforms. No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but there is very little of your data for a breach to expose in the first place.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the site, our providers, or applicable law. The “Effective date” at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically, especially before relying on the calculator for a decision about your academic standing.
